About the Conference

Tourism Consciousness and Responsible Futures

United Nations Tourism has established sustainability as the core driver of tourism’s transformation, reflected in its strategic themes for World Tourism Day: “Sustainable Development and Investment” (2024), “Sustainable Transformation” (2025), and “Redesigning Tourism through Digital Agenda and AI” (2026). These priorities guide global stakeholders in advancing the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development, emphasizing the need to bridge divides in travel access and reduce tourism’s negative impacts. The sector is called to leverage innovation and responsibility in fostering inclusive, resilient, and ecologically sound futures.

Guiding Questions

In alignment with our conference theme “Sustainable Tourism: Conscious and Responsible Futures,” we invite submissions that address the following critical questions:

  1. How can the principles of sustainability, conscious action, and responsibility be deeply embedded throughout the entire tourism value chain and ecosystem?
  2. What innovative and collaborative partnership models are needed to drive responsible transformation across governments, industries, and local communities?
  3. In what ways can tourism diversify local economies and build resilience that extends beyond traditional, often volatile, revenue streams?
  4. What transformative strategies and experiences can create profound, memorable, and sustainable value for all stakeholders, including tourists, residents, and businesses?
  5. How can tourism ethically showcase, actively safeguard, and ensure the intergenerational transmission of cultural heritage, Indigenous knowledge, and natural assets
  6. How can emerging technologies, such as AI and digital platforms, be harnessed responsibly to accelerate the sector’s sustainable transformation?

Conference
Objectives

This conference aims to bring together a global community of scholars, researchers, practitioners, policymakers, and students to critically examine and advance the role of tourism in shaping a more sustainable, conscious, and responsible future. Building upon the strong foundation of our previous conferences, such as “Sustainable, Transformative and Regenerative Tourism” (2023) and “Tourism & Sustainable Development Goals” (2019), this gathering seeks to:

  1. Advance both theoretical and practical understanding of conscious and responsible frameworks for tourism transformation.
  2. Foster interdisciplinary dialogue and catalyze multi-stakeholder partnerships across academic institutions, industry sectors, and communities.
  3. Identify and evaluate effective strategies, policies, and innovative business models for implementing sustainable tourism practices.
  4. Facilitate the exchange of frontier knowledge and best practices among researchers, industry leaders, and community stakeholders.
  5. Explore the ethical implications and opportunities presented by digital transformation and artificial intelligence in advancing sustainable development goals in tourism.
